So you Air Fry, eh?
I won’t lie, I fought the air fryer movement. I didn’t want another big ass kitchen appliance taking up space in my 700 square foot apartment. Then one year I was gifted one for Christmas.
That was the year I vowed to stop exchanging gifts. But it was also the year I started playing around with the air fryer. And I must say, in a very scroogey tone, they’re pretty great.
I had to make my cat an outdoor pet to find space for it, but I am formally endorsing the air fryer. This air fryer chicken wing recipe is a great representation of why the air fryer is so great.
Without needing to add any oil, the air fryer is much healthier than deep frying. Oven cooking in the heat of the summer can be miserable and warm your house to uncomfortable levels, the air fryer doesn’t. It cooks everything in a flash, and is super easy to clean. The main knock on it being, and I know whiskers agrees with me, is the size. It’s like having a fat Yoda live on your countertop.
If you’re in the market, this is a great option. Air Fryer Link

Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer Recipe
Garlic Parmesan, an American Tradition
It is believed that the combination of garlic and Parmesan cheese as a wing flavor originated in the United States in the late 20th century. I’m almost certain spudy libations were involed.
The first recorded instance of a garlic Parmesan wing sauce recipe can be found in a cookbook from Buffalo, New York, the birthplace of the traditional Buffalo wing. Little on the nose there Buffalo…
The recipe was for a buttery sauce made with garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, and other seasonings. The savory, salty, and slightly nutty taste of Parmesan cheese pairs perfectly with the pungent and flavorful garlic.
There’s no question that it is one of the most popular wing flavors, enjoyed by wing lovers all over the country. So do your part, and stuff your face with some of these Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer.
Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make this garlic parmesan wings air fryer recipe.
- Chicken Wings: We buy skin on, bone in. A blank canvas to paint all those beautiful garlicky cheesy brush strokes on.
- Cheese: Finely grate your parmesan cheese so when it hits the hot wings the small pieces melt and crisp up. And with an extra final garnish, this will give you that great gooey wing. pre grated is okay, it won’t melt the same.
- Baking Powder: The secret to crispy wings right here! I use like a half tablespoon per pound of wings.
- Oil & Seasoning: Garlic, garlic salt, and a little salt and pepper in with the baking powder mixture goes a long way. A little olive oil or butter helps coat the wings with seasoning and will help to make the wings crispy.
- Garnishes: Chopped fresh parsley, and of course carrots and celery. Whats with the wing places that only give you celery? I NEED my carrots!
How to Make Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer
Here’s how to cook frozen chicken wings in an air fryer:
Step 1: SEASON Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
Transfer the wings to a bowl and add the baking powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and oil. Toss to coat the wings evenly.
*If you are dealing with frozen chicken wings you’ll need to zap them for 5 minutes before seasoning them. Simply place the frozen wings in the basket of the air fryer.
Do your best to remove any chunks of ice and try and leave as much space between the wings as possible. Cook the wings for 5 minutes, transfer them to seasoning bowl and drain any liquid from the bottom of the air fryer tray.
Step 2: COOK & FLIP Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer
Cook the wings in the air fryer and cook them for 10 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Pull the tray out and use thongs to flip the wings. Cook them for an additional 10 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Step 3: Toss & Crisp* Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer
Again remove your wings and transfer them to a bowl along with the butter, minced garlic, and half the parmesan cheese. Toss them with a spatula making sure they are all evenly coated.
You could also put all the ingredients into a ziplock bag and shake to mix everything together. Just don’t shake so hard you puncture the bag and lose all you precious wings!
Return them to the air fryer for a final 5 minute cook at 400 degrees F.
*Depending on the size of your wings, your air fryer, and how crispy you like you wings, you will need to adjust your cooking time. The instructions provided cook a crispy wing without drying them out.
Step 4: Garnish & Serve Garlic Parmesan Wings Air Fryer
Immediately transfer your wings to a serving bowl or plate. Top them with the remaining parmesan cheese, chopped fresh parsley, and serve them with celery sticks and carrots. And do NOT forget the ranch or blue cheese!
